Girls’ U18B Netball v Portsmouth Grammar School, 05.02.2020

By Mariela Walton, Teacher of Girls’ PE & Games

This Wednesday the second team faced PGS. Various illnesses meant we lost a couple of regular players, but it was great to be able to bring India Saunders into the side to make her debut for Bedales netball.

As the game started, Mimi Fowler was excellent at defending down the court and feeding the ball into the shooters, and we were able to take an early lead, ending the first two quarters ahead.

Daisy Flint and Ella Peattie worked together expertly in the circle to put pressure on the PGS shooters, making it tough for them to put the goals away. It was great to see three Block 5 students – Sasha Arney, Mathilda Douglas and Sammy Smith – stepping up to play senior netball, and all three were key to our success in the game. Captain Meadow Ridley was on fire with her shooting, and scored a number of Bedales goals, meaning that we were able to finish the game 23-4 to Bedales.

Imi Laurence was awarded the well-deserved Player of the Match due to her versatility on court and her fantastic skills in both defence and attack. Well done all.
